Preparing to Purchase

Before embarking on your property search, it's wise to make a

few preparations.

Build Your Green File

Before you can secure financing for your property, it's important to have a green file ready. This file should contain all your essential financial documents, including:

  • Bank accounts

  • Investments

  • Credit cards

  • Auto loans

  • Recent pay stubs

  • Tax returns for two years

  • Copies of leases for investment properties

  • 401K statements, life insurance, stocks, bonds, and mutual account information.

Looking for Property

With those preparations complete, it's time to start searching for the perfect property for you.

Take a Drive

Explore the neighborhoods, complexes, or subdivisions that interest you. Take some time to drive around and imagine what it would be like to own a property there. Start getting a feel for the available properties in those areas.

Narrow Your Search

Identify a few properties that pique your interest and have your real estate agent schedule visits. Discuss with your agent the potential long-term resale value of these properties.

Time to Buy
